Congressional Testimony

US Senate

On June 26, 1996, I appeared before a hearing of the Senate Subcommittee on Science, Technology and Space (a subcommitee of the Senate Commerce Committee) chaired by Senator Conrad Burns to testify in favor of his PRO-CODE bill, S.1726. Here is my prepared statement. More information, including a Real Audio recording of the hearing, can be found on CDT's web page.

US House of Representatives

On March 20, 1997, I appeared before a hearing of the House Subcommitte on Courts and Intellectual Property (a subcommittee of the House Judiciary Committee). There was no C-SPAN coverage of this event. Here is my opening statement and my written statement. After the hearing I wrote followup comments for the record in response to the testimony of the government witnesses.

Here I am with the fellow members of my panel on March 20, 1997. From left to right: Phil Karn, Qualcomm; Grover Norquist, Americans for Tax Reform; Marc Rotenberg, Electronic Privacy Information Center; Jerry Berman, Center for Democracy and Technology
