Site description: In the Hillcrest region of San Diego, immediately west of the 163 freeway. Exit from southbound 163 at University and follow the signs up the steep hill to the hospital.
Charger description: One pedestal charger is in the visitor parking garage at the northeast corner of Lewis St and Fourth Ave. This is north across Lewis from the main hospital entrance. The charger is immediately inside the garage on the right.
What to do while waiting: A Boston Market restaurant is to the south at Fifth and Washington. There are many small restaurants and shops along University one block further south in the Hillcrest district.
Parking fee: Advertised rates are $1/half hour, $10 max, 15 minute grace period. But according to the attendant, EV parking is free!
ICEing: Severe. There is only one charger, and the spot is marked as being available for handicapped use if no other space is available. It is usually possible to access the charger by parking on the triangular "no parking" area to the left of the spot -- with the permission of the parking attendant. It may also be possible to access the charger from the other side, in the doctor's parking area.
Charger supply voltage: 208
