Anaheim Convention Center Hilton

Site description: A large hotel next to the Anaheim Convention Center, immediately south of Disneyland.

Charger description: One wall charger mounted on a support column in section B10 of the 5-story parking garage. The entrance is labeled "Car Park 2"; it's the only one open to the public (the other is for valet drivers). The EV spaces are numbered 226-227. The area is near (and can be seen from) the entrance on the east side of the garage, but it is in the valet section and cannot be directly reached; you have to drive around a bit before you can come back to the area.

What to do while waiting: Visit Disneyland.

Costco - Tustin

Site description: Northeast of El Camino Real, directly across fromthe end of Auto Center Drive.

Charger description: Two pedestal chargers near the building to the right of the tire center, under the "Costco Wholesale" sign, facing the front entrance.

What to do while waiting: Besides Costco, there's a Home Depot and a K-Mart close by. A good-sized mall is a short walk away.

Texaco Star Mart - Irvine

Site description: An otherwise ordinary gas station and mini-mart close to the I-5 freeway.  The entrance is by the Carl's Jr. next door.

Charger description:  Two pedestal chargers in the parking lot across from the Carl's Junior.

What to do while waiting: Besides the Carl's Jr, there is a Subway and a Taco Bell inside the Star Mart.

Notes: This site is very close to the Costco warehouse in Irvine, which also has chargers.

Saturn of San Juan Capistrano

Site description:  On the northwest corner of Via de Anza and Capistrano, the latter being a frontage road jon the west side of the I-5 freeway.

Charger description: 3 pedestal chargers on the west side of the building near the service department entrance.

What to do while waiting:  Not too much nearby besides a few other car dealerships.

Notes: The area around the chargers is unusually narrow and congested with parked cars, even for a Saturn dealer. The Costco San Juan Capistrano site is a short distance to the south.

Saturn of Santa Ana

Site description:  In a large cluster of car dealerships.

Charger description: 4 pedestal chargers along the west side of the building (left as seen from the entrance), opposite from the service entrance, next to the used cars entrance.

Notes:  The site  is rather difficult to get to (it is not immediately adjacent to the freeway) but  the charging area is much less congested than at the usual Saturn dealership.

What to do while waiting: This is an industrial part of town, so there's not much to do.

Saddleback Memorial Hospital

Site description:
Charger description: One pedestal charger against a low wall to the right of the open-air handicap section - not in the parking garage. The chargers are to your right as you enter the lot.

What to do while waiting: Stores including a B Daltons and a JC Penney's are nearby.

Mission Hospital

Site description:

Charger description: One pedestal charger in the visitors/patients parking area to the right of the hospital as seen from the entrance.

Notes: The charger is mounted at the corner of two opposite parking spaces and can serve either one. This is one of the better-designed single-charger layouts I've seen; most are only capable of serving one spot.

Costco - San Juan Capistrano

Site description:

Charger description: Two pedestal chargers near the tire department on the north side of the building.

Notes: Saturn of San Juan Capistrano is a short distance to the north.

Costco - Irvine

Site description: Immediately east of I-5, easily seen from the freeway but a series of turns are required to reach it.

Charger description: Two pedestal chargers on the south side of the building left of the main entrance.

What to do while waiting: Several other stores are close to the Costco.

Note: This site is very close to the Texaco Star Mart.

Costco - Laguna Niguel

Site description:

Charger description: Two pedestal chargers at the end of the first row in the parking lot near the tire center. Turn right immediately on entering the parking lot and drive to the end of the row; the chargers are on your right.

South Coast Air Quality Management District

Charger description: Four pedestal chargers next to a kiosk in the main parking lot, plus two more pedestal chargers at the "solar charge port".

Notes: This is a mecca for electric vehicles. There are literally dozens of electric vehicle charging stations, mostly equipped with 240V 50A conductive outlets. The large solar array above the "charge port" is a nice touch -- it keeps your car in the shade while it helps charge it.
